ABOUT Evetty Satterfield

District One School Board Candidate

A proud Austin-East Magnet High School graduate, Evetty Satterfield has been afforded phenomenal opportunities through education. She contributes her development from the many mentors that surrounded her in the East Knoxville community – a community that is filled with potential and opportunity. She holds a Special Education degree from Alabama A&M University and a Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. Evetty understands the importance of mastering your craft in order to serve your community with passion and knowledge.

In her short, yet fulfilled lifespan, Evetty has served as a Founding Corps Member for City Year Denver and an Ella Baker Trainer for the Children’s Defense Fund which has allowed her to continue to spread the movement as the Co-Founder of East Knoxville Freedom School. She was also instrumental in launching three American Honors program at the nation’s only state-funded community college and recently returned from sharing her talents internationally as the Director of Student Services at an International school in Abu Dhabi, UAE. A common theme Evetty has realized throughout her journey is that in every community, the youth are the most valuable resource, yet the most underserved.

Evetty returned to Knoxville, TN in 2016 and served as the College and Career Access Coach for Project GRAD Knoxville at Austin–East Magnet High School. She is now the Manager of School Partnerships with Academic Approach, serving her 7th year as Co-Director for TENSE Summit and running a successful campaign to become the next School Board representative for Knox County Schools – District One.
